El Ávila National Park, also called the Waraira Repano National Park is a national park in Venezuela near the capital city of Caracas. The park supports a variety of wildlife at multiple elevations. There are some 120 species of mammals, 30 species of reptiles, 500 species of birds, 20 amphibian species and more than 100 butterfly species, meaning that it has incredible diversity. The park is a popular destination for tourists and locals in the Caracas area and is an excellent spot for bird watching. The oldest trail in the park is Camino de los Españoles, which translates to “The Way of the Spaniards” and the park has a dense set of trails for people to explore. Naigutá Peak and other formations in the Coastal Range are in the park. The elevation in El Ávila National Park ranges from 120 meters to 2,765 meters. Thousands of people enjoy walking the trails every day.
